About Me

col_sidelookColleen Brennan-Barry (sidenote: that’s me) is an active, enthusiastic member of the higher education Web community, and is constantly looking for new ways to put my skills and experiences to work for my College and our users. In a given day I wear many hats: Web professional. Higher education champion. Communications strategist. Social media aficionado. Project manager. Hard worker. Writer. Geek. Nice person.

It’s a good thing I look great in a chapeau.

I am assistant director of marketing and communications at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., where I am in charge of Web communications and strategy. Using my background in communication, composition, higher education and marketing, I direct a team of full- and part-time employees as we manage the College’s core Web presence. In an average day, I act as the College’s Web-editor-in-chief; a champion of new technology, functionality and usability; manager of the College’s social media presence; lead project manager of multiple projects of varying scope; team partner with faculty and staff on Web-based communications; and excited communicator finding new ways to share the College’s core messages online.

I am on the board of directors for the Higher Education Web Professionals Association, whose mission statement is “To advance Web professionals, technologies, and standards in higher education — a mission in which I believe passionately. I also act as the marketing manager for the annual HighEdWeb conference, a national conference hosted by the not-for-profit professional association of the same name.
